Madeline is licensed to carry up to 12 passengers.

It was purpose built by Eckington School and launched in 2014; click here for the story. The Trust bought it from the school in 2020.

A big cruiser-style stern makes getting on and off the boat easy. Access to the passenger cabin is down a short flight of steep steps. There is a large front deck.

Passengers may have a turn at steering, under the supervision of our crew.

Madeline is based at Hollingwood Hub on the Derbyshire section of the canal.

Public trip dates 2026

All cruises leave from Hollingwood Hub (S43 2PF).

Where there are two prices, the concessions are for Under 16s; babes in arms go free.

Please note that all planned cruises are subject to possible late cancellation, e.g. because of a problem with the canal. You can ring 07473 621972 to ensure that all is running smoothly.

Charter bookings

Charters for up to 12 people may be booked for any day of the week in any month of the year.

The Trust provides the boat and the crew, you sit back and enjoy the ride, but you are welcome to help with the locks or steer the boat under supervision if you so wish.

All charters cost £70 per hour.

Speciality 2 hour private food charters for up to 12 people cost £140 for the boat + £11 per person for Fish & Chips or £9 per person for Afternoon Tea.
