New Dawn is looking really good now and is nearing completion.
From a position on the stern, one is amazed by the length. Note the new covers.
(Yes, that’s Seth Ellis in the background – out of the water for blacking.)
The rudder looks great. The tiller has been made, but is kept in the container.
The caulking has been completed, but now it has to be sealed, as do the bolt ends.
This is done with pitch, put on with a trowel and then smoothed with a hot iron.
Finally it is painted with a mixture fondly known as Boat Soup!
