On the BW section of the canal, there are slipways at West Stockwith, at the terminus with the Trent, and at BW's Shireoaks Marina.

On the currently isolated western section, there are slipways close to Tapton Lock in Chesterfield and at the new Staveley Town Basin should you wish to launch a trailboat and explore that section.
