The Chesterfield Canal Trust held their Festival at Worksop on Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th July. Despite unhelpful weather, there was a healthy turnout to see a very wide range of attractions.
Day two of the canal festival brought the crowds in again, and again, there was plenty to keep them amused. The theatre group and Carlo The Clown again were working hard to keep people entertaied, the Trust trip boat Seth Ellis gave people a brief taste of life on the wateway and the historic boat Python which is undergoing restoration by the Trust as The Learning Boat made a couple of trips along the cut so visitors could experience the sight and sound of a Lister-powered 80-year-old ex-working boat.

Festival 2010 - Day 1
Despite the best efforts of the British weather to dampen proceedings, it was more dry than wet for day one of the Chesterfield Canal Trust Festival 2010 in Worksop.
Following recent problems in Worksop with suspected anti-social behaviour, we asked the local BW office for an update:
The vandalism at Bracebridge has resulted from general cases of anti-social behaviour in the area. Groups of youths gather near the lock and if the chamber is empty, they swing on the bottom gates. There have also been incidents of what appears to be deliberate damage to the paddles resulting in water loss. The pound level at the moment is fine, but we do keep a regular eye on it as there have been a few instances in the last few months.
A group of volunteers has been building a wall in Staveley this week. They are members of the Waterway Recovery Group. They have given up a week of their holidays to help the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s regular Work Party in the restoration of the Chesterfield Canal.
