The Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) held their Bonfire Bash on the Chesterfield and Cromford canals at the start of November. Over 70 volunteers came for this annual weekend event.

This year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal commenced on Saturday, October 29th and collections will be taken until November 12th.
The Chair of Bassetlaw District Council, Cllr Jim Anderson, the Chairman of the Nottinghamshire Royal British Legion, Andy Gregory, and the Chair of the Chesterfield Canal Trust, Robin Stonebridge, joined members of Worksop Royal British Legion, volunteers and members of the public for this very special launch at the Lock Keeper pub in Worksop.

Canal & River Trust Press Release
Local people are for the first time being given the opportunity to venture underground and explore a 240 year old canal tunnel which has been abandoned since it collapsed over a century ago.
The Chesterfield Canal Trust’s new tripboat was officially named by the outgoing Police & Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire, Alan Charles, at Staveley Town Basin. It is called John Varley II. The new PCC, Hardyal Singh Dhindsa, also attended the event, which was held in pouring rain.
