It's all happening at Hollingwood - and Turnerwood

This has been a really busy week improving things around Hollingwood Hub.

Will Nona recognise the place when she reopens her Coffee Shop on Friday 20th January?

Firstly, new Trans Pennine Trail warning notices went up.

Then the canal water level was lowered.

This was because repairs needed to be done on the lock approach wall.

The coping stones were removed.

After a good clean up the brickwork was restored to await the refitting of the coping stones.

What a good job they have made of it - this was taken on January 18th.

The Countryside Rangers finished the revetments round the reinforced stand for cranes. Topsoil will be added later, then we will plant it.

Highways came to resurface Station Road.

And finally, the Work Party came on Sunday to clear the overhanging scrub on the off bank below the bridge.
This photo was taken at 10 a.m.

And this one was taken at 3.30 p.m. Pretty good going!

Meanwhile work is also taking place on the eastern, British Waterways, section of the canal.
We are indebted to David Blackburn for the photos below taken on 17th January.

This is Hare moored above Stone Lock.

There is work going on to plug a leak.

Stone piles are being driven in under the towpath.

Finally the undergrowth by the towpath near Shireoaks is being cleared.
