Award for Staveley Town Basin

 

Derbyshire County Council and contractors NT Killingley Ltd have won an Institute of Civil Engineers award for the Staveley Town Basin Land Reclamation scheme.

Other partners in the scheme were the Chesterfield Canal partnership, the Chesterfield Canal Trust and the Waterways Recovery Group.

First Canal Boat into the new Basin

This is the moment for which we have all been waiting. The John Varley is the first canal boat to cruise into the new Staveley Town Basin; indeed it is the first canal boat on this stretch for over 50 years.
