We will have our Festival on 30th June/1st July from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Staveley Town Basin (S43 3XZ). It will be part of Staveley Feast. The Festival will be formally opened by The Duke of Devonshire at 10.30 on the Saturday.
Attractions will include a canal boat/vintage bus/steam train round tour in association with Barrow Hill Roundhouse which is a mile away. We will have all three of our tripboats in action.
Entertainment will include the Woodhouse Prize Band, Life & Times, Albert’s Skiffle Band, Carlo the Clown, the New Orleans Strollers, the Urban Gypsies, the Sheffield Celebrated Clog Dancers, Reelin' And A Rockin', the Pomegranate Youth Theatre and Springwell Community College Junior, Youth & Adult Choirs Attractions will include Segway rides, a Steam Roller, the Raptor Foundation flying Birds of Prey, a Ropemaker, the Sheffield Ship Model Society, MG cars, Nicky Ward Art, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service doing Water Rescues, canoeing, zorbing, canoe water polo and our Volunteer Work Party building the new lock. Food and Drink by Brampton Brewery, North West Catering, Frederick’s Ice Cream, Mr Spud, Coffee Continental and Coconut Kitchen. At the same time, Barrow Hill Roundhouse will be having Family Days with steam train rides. There will be connecting buses between the two events. There will be a major concert featuring The Swing Commanders on the Saturday night. Click here to buy tickets for this concert. There will be free parking nearby, or park at Hollingwood Hub and come by boat, or park at Barrow Hill Roundhouse and come by special bus. Entrance to the Festival will be £3, free for Under 12s. Buses 78 and 90 pass the site; 70, 74, 77, 80, 81 go very close. As it is on the isolated western stretch of the canal, it will essentially be a trailboat festival, but there will be the possibility of craning larger boats into the water.
