Faced with the prospect of having to move a load of fencing panels from West Stockwith to Shireoaks, the Canal Trust looked round for a suitable transport and found one close to home!
The fencing panels, loaned to us by British Waterways, will be used to create a compound at Shireoaks Marina for the building of the New Dawn. Using the greenest form of transport open to us, a volunteer crew took Python down to West Stockwith on Sunday 12th September 2010. The old girl was loaded up with the fencing panels and made the return trip to Shireoaks this week. The picture below shows a laden Python getting ready to leave West Stockwith Marina on an overcast morning.
Yours truly was on the trip down to to West Stockwith on the Sunday and I can only say what a delight and pleasure it was to take Python on this trip, even if I did find on the odd occasion that the bottom was a little closer to the top than anticipated on one occasion under a bridge between Drakeholes and Misterton!
