The Chesterfield Canal - - The Cuckoo Way

Forthcoming Events
most recent additions: 13 May 2009

With many of these events, we advise checking availability before setting off as numbers may be strictly limited. Please check back for more information nearer the date. For many of the events featuring the Seth Ellis, we work in conjunction with other agencies who handle bookings and event organisation.

If you're more interested in the work of the publiclity trailer, or even better, would be interested in helping our hard-pressed events team on one of these events, there's a list of those events further down this page.

Date Event
Saturday 23rd - Monday 25th May 2009 Chesterfield Canal Festival - Kiveton Park. This is a major national event to mark the start of the push to restore the "missing link". Over 50 visiting boats, loads of attractions, heritage demonstrations, boat trips etc. More information on the event web site.
18th June 2009

Retford Ride and Ramble.

After the sucess of Boats and Boots at Kiveton, this is Retford's own event with guided walks and boat trips around the town. Come along and maybe learn a little more about the history of Retford and the canal.

27th / 28th June 2009

For the first time, Seth Ellis and crew will be taking part in Clayworth gala days. Why not come along and see what's happening? This event coincides with the Flower Festival at St Peters Church, Clayworth.

3rd / 4th / 5th July 2009

Boats and Boots

This ever popular event held in conjunction with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is a chance to explore the canal as it passes through Rotherham borough. Taking in some superb scenery, these boat trips and guided walks offer the chance to explore the area around Thorpe Salvin and Kiveton and experience the area that provided the stone for the Houses of Parliament in London.

13th August 2009

Retford Ride and Ramble (again)

Missed it first time around? Don't worry - here's your chance to catch it again.

12th September

National Heritage Day

Our own living museum: a trip on board Seth Ellis gives you a chance to get closer to one of the earliest canals in the country, completed in 1777.
