Well Dressing features canal

The Well Dressing at Old Whittington this year depicts the Chesterfield Canal. A magnificent image was created to combine with the Old Whittington Gala.

The image shows a boat cruising along the canal about to enter a lock. It was done by a new group of ladies called The Old Whittington Well Dressing Group. There are eighteen members whose previous experience ranges from many years to complete beginners.

Welford to Buckby Top Lock

The Sanitary Station at Welford is well placed at the basin and was convenient to our mooring, so we carried out the ‘Thetfordery’ and also filled our empty water carriers. Our daily visit down the weed hatch proved to be unnecessary and we were able to set off on the next stage of our journey at about 9:20am under a cloudless blue sky.

After spending the night on a delightful mooring on the outskirts of Market Harborough we set sail early on a beautiful morning to rendezvous with Phoenix at Foxton hoping for a pre 10:00am entry into the lock flight.
